As a family of 2 adults and 3 kids (15,11,9), we did a 7 day trek in the High Atlas with Marc as our guide. Our first night after arriving was in a great hotel that was part of a nature reserve relatively low down in the valley to the west of Imlil. The next morning we met with Marc who talked us through what to expect and then we set off walking up the valley, initially along the 'road' and then track. The scenery was spectacular with amazing cherry blossom lower down. The weather came in on the second day and, whilst that didn't stop us, we had to change our route so that the mules could still carry our luggage. We had been told to come prepared so as the snow level dropped to around 2,000m we had enough warm clothing and equipment. The mountains were transformed with a blanket of white which made them even more impressive and probably made the walking easier in some ways. On day 3 we crossed over to the Imlil valley, the main tourist area as the route up to Toubkal, walking up to the refuge beneath on the next day partly in another snow storm. Marc was very helpful in teaching us winter skills as we had done very little before with crampons and ice-axes, engaging with the kids to make it fun. For the 'big day', we set off just after dawn and reached the summit before noon in glorious conditions and spectacular views down to the Sahara and up into Morocco. The trek had a good balance of walking and relaxing so that we all enjoyed it as a family. We had been warned about the unseasonal conditions in advance by Marc so had the right equipment with us on the whole. It was good to see Marc working with the local people, building relationships with them and supporting their businesses, as well as promoting the wellbeing of the mules in connection with the donkey charity. We would definitely recommend a trip with Wild Goose Adventure, to the High Atlas if you enjoy an adventure. Bradley family, Wales, United Kingdom
