Heres a quick report on the winter conditions on Toubkal for the 7th October 2016
This week has seen three days of rain over the Atlas Mountains. On the high mountains the freezing level has dropped and there is now a light covering of snow on the highest peaks in the Toubkal Massif. The Tazaghart plateau, Toubkal and the Ouanikrims are looking very white from a distance.
It looks like the snow comes down to around 3800m or so.
I haven’t been up there this week to check for myself how deep it is but please be aware that this makes any attempts on the 4000m mountains much more serious now than a week ago. Expect bad visibility, cold and winter conditions on the high peaks. the attached photo shows the Tazaghart plateau glinting white under a cloudy sky yesterday.
